Due to the expanded number of wood firings in our new 250 cu Ft Noborigama we will not have time to offer any sessions in Raku this summer

    This is a 2 day workshop intended for both the beginning and advanced potter, who wants to experiment with these primitive firing techniques.  Participants will fire their pots in a pit kiln, and in two different style  Raku Kilns.

This  2 day workshop intended for both the beginning and intermediate  potter, who wants to experience these unique techniques. 

Firings are in a primitive pit kiln, a Top Hat style Raku kiln and a Raku Car Kiln. 

Wear cotton or wool work clothes, and leather gloves are advisable.  We will provide Kevlar mitts for Raku firings.

 

Pit & Sawdust Firings: 


Bring about 12 pots that have been burnished and bisque fired.

 Each participant will have approximately a 12" x24"x24" space to fill.

 Upon registering  you will be sent a booklet with detailed information regarding clay and pot specifications  for each firing process. 

 

 Raku Firings: 
For Raku firing bring about 12 bisqued pots. 

 Each participant will have approximately an 18"x18"x 9" space to fill.

A white clay body is recommended for use with the white crackle glaze.  

 

Tuition:
Includes all meals, materials & firing costs.  Class Size: Maximum of 10.
