Altering Thrown Forms
Workshop

Aug 26-28, 2005- This workshop is now closed.

This is a 3 day workshop that focuses on energizing thrown forms.  It is intended to loosen the tight round shapes that come off the potters wheel.

Potters of intermediate to advanced abilities will find the potters wheel has a new meaning, as throwing is only the first stage of working a form.

Simple methods of distortion that transform round pots into rectangles, ovals and squares will be taught.

Some of the avenues of exploration covered will be: fluting, faceting, twisting, pulling, ribbing, shaving, cut and pasting, adding elements and carving.

Tuition:
$ 420 per person includes all meals.
A materials fee (clay cost) will only be charged
on pieces taken home from the workshop.

Aug 26-28, 2005 ( CLOSED)

Class Size:  10

The level of expertise necessary to take this workshop is not dependent on how thin you can throw a pot.

In fact almost all of the thrown forms used in this workshop need to be thick and simple.  The beefy nature of many of these forms is part of their character.

If you can throw an even walled cylinder you can experience the joy of cutting, twisting and reassembling it into a limitless variety of altered forms.
