While most of the workshops Robert gives are hands on in clay, he is often requested to speak to the issues of making a living
as a working potter.

A topic not often addressed in schools, and one in which his 36 years as a full time working potter allows him to speak from experience.
  Arts and Crafts in New Zealand are strongly supported by the national government.  A system of grants to local arts organizations has resulted in an amazing amount of knowledge in the general population,
 about objects that are made by hand.
