Shino
The color of Shino ranges from cream to dark red. Shino glazes
often exhibit crazing lines and may appear nearly transparent. This
is the result of its high sodium content, usually from the addition
of soda ash. These fracture lines, called “crazing” are formed when
the glaze cools.

Forms
Robert’s pottery focuses
on form and process rather than decoration. He feels a strong but
simple form, offers as much to the eye as painted patterns. This
belief results in pieces which are thrown and then altered.
His altered forms are finished in a manner which takes advantage of
the firing process. Effects such as “flashing” from wood firing, or
“fluxing” from salt glazing, which produce patterns impossible to
achieve with a paint brush.
