Pilgrim Jug

The term “Pilgrim Pot” makes reference to pieces from ancient times that were used as transportation water jugs or
 "Canteens"

Pilgrim jugs have a wide range of  designs reflecting the personality of the potter and the culture.

Salt Patterns

The heavy texture created in salt glazing is referred to as
 “orange peel"
while a lighter texture may take on the appearance of an
“onion skin”.

It is natural for salt glazes to vary, giving each piece a unique texture.

Wad Marks

The "flash patterns" on the bottom of this vessel,
are a result of “wads”
used prevent the pot from fusing to the kiln shelf.

The choice of materials used for wadding,
the shape and the amount of wadding used,
are important aesthetic considerations for the potter.
