  Sturbridge Village is a working museum, and open to the public. The building at left is the pottery that produces reproductions of inkwells and other red ware pottery that is fired in the bottle kiln at right

 

 

The Bottle kiln is a simple updraft kiln. Metal Banding helps contain the expansion when firing.
