Ron Larson

Canton, NY
2008

Note the extended cart, which permits angle bracing of the door. The kiln plan Ron used was based on the Minnesota Flat Top.  He altered the design when he had some of the roof bricks drop into his kiln during a firing. He replaced the flat brick roof with a fiber blanket roof.

Ron fires his kiln with LIQUID propane burners.

The flat brick roof is insulated with a fiber blanket,
that is held in place with ceramic buttons.

Ron Larson and Robert Compton A nice touch for spy holes is the tapered brick and tapered hole.

Note the thickness of the fiber roof. A metal fitting, on the top of the kiln,
permits it to be synched in place when firing.
