Densmore Brick Company
Lebanon, NH

2004

There were five bee hive kilns at this New Hampshire site,
in April of 2004 when I took theses photos.

Two of the kilns have collapsed and the three remaining bee hives are in extreme disrepair.

The Densmore Brick company had several kiln sites in Vermont and New Hampshire.
In 1973 Robert photographed the Vermont Densmore Brickyard
shortly before those Bee Hive kilns were destroyed.

One of the few Beehives with an extended "downdraft" chimney Most of the kilns had small updraft exhaust chimneys

Tree roots are eating away at the masonry of these beautiful structures Firebox ( lower right) as seen from outside the kiln

You can see that several layers of wall bricks have fallen away,
it is only a matter of time before the dome collapses

Note the brick pattern in all these photos for the domed ceiling

It is unlikely any of these kilns will survive for another decade,
these a a few shots of the kilns that have already collapsed
