Bruce Martin
New Zealand

Bruce Martin showing the foot petal that opens the fire box door on his smaller anagama.  This design allows  your hands to be free when stoking.

The earth used to buttress this kiln literally melted causing the arch to sag.  This larger kiln is no longer in use since the building of a smaller anagama (shown to the left and below).

Exterior of the larger kiln, with Bruce looking inside from the left side.

In 1995 Robert and Christine had the pleasure of visiting the Martin's.  Estelle passed away in 2001, and was a wonderful potter.  They both studied in Japan in the early 1980's and brought an eastern flavor of ceramics to NZ.
