Richard Batterham
England

The interior walls of this kiln had the look of a salt chamber.  Richard "paints glaze" on the walls, saying that he would never fire a "dry kiln",
expressing his feeling that dry walls pull the life out of glazes.

Robert and Christine visited Richard's studio in 1998, where they saw
his Oil fired Climbing Kiln.
The burner above fires into the first chamber.
This kiln is similar to the one at Bernard Leach's studio in St Ives.

Burner ports, feeding into first of the two chambers.

Note flame deflectors used, on interior left.
