Clam Shell Raku Kiln from plans brought back to USA after
1991 trip to NZ by Robert &
Christine. There have been a number of these kilns built in Vermont in
recent years. The one show here, was built for "Frog Hollow Craft Center"
in Burlington, where Jeremy was the resident potter. |
The hinge of this kiln was adapted to include a fitting
for an iron pipe to keep the lid propped open when loading and unloading.
The clam shell design is interesting, since it makes for a
portable Raku kiln, that is quite durable and can be fired by one person. |
