Clam Shell Raku Kiln from plans brought back to USA after 1991 trip to NZ by Robert & Christine.  There have been a number of these kilns built in Vermont in recent years.  The one show here, was built for "Frog Hollow Craft Center" in Burlington,  where Jeremy was the resident potter.

The hinge of this kiln was adapted to include a fitting for an iron pipe to keep the lid propped open when loading and unloading.

The clam shell design is interesting, since it makes for a portable Raku kiln, that is quite durable and can be fired by one person.
